It was too near but thankfully yet too far for a well-known city chef, who claimed he suffered a car accident because of a loose manhole cover.
In our report on Wednesday, we cited how the 60-plus-year-old man was driving his car down Malabar Hill towards Kemps Corner when it went over a manhole. Apparently, the loose cover dislodged from its place and lodged beneath the car. The vehicle swerved sharply and crashed into a light pole.
