What’s a city, or any place, but memories — if you don’t live in it; no? Well, no — in the case of Ranchi and Bepin Babu, from Satyajit Ray’s short story, Bepin Choudhary’s Lapse of Memories. 

In the story, the eponymous character bumps into an eager stranger, Parimal Ghose, at his regular Calcutta bookstore, who recalls them hanging together in Ranchi for a week, back in 1958, when he also took him along to visit the “Hudroo Falls”.
