A Filipina housemaid and her Bangladeshi boyfriend will be given 100 lashes each, jailed for a year and then deported for having illicit sex, a court in the United Arab Emirates has ruled.

The Sharjah Sharia Court ordered the lashing of the housemaid - known only as N.M. - and her lover - known as M.M. - for entering the house of the woman's sponsor without permission for sex, the Gulf News reported.
