Helsinki: An Afghan national was sentenced to life imprisonment for raping and murdering a 17-year-old girl in Finland, Finnish news agency STT reported on Thursday.

The man was also asked to pay compensation totalling some $63,638 to the girl's mother and other family members, and another 69,000 euros of compensation for destroying a building. The crime happened in Pori, western Finland in January, XInhua news agency reported.
