India's conduct after the Mumbai-terrorist attack by Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) has been statesmanlike, US Defence Secretary Robert Gates said on Tuesday, praising the restrain shown by the Indian leadership after 26/11.

"I believe that the Indians responded subsequently with a great deal of restraint and have conducted themselves in a very statesmanlike manner since that attack," Gates told reporters on board flying with him on his three-day trip to India.
