The US President, who has been commander-in-chief and resident at the White House for just over a week, was photographed from the gardens of the White House on Tuesday. He was trying to return to the Oval Office after meeting House and Senate Republicans. u00a0 Instead of heading straight for the door, Obama showed his unfamiliarity with his new-found surroundings and aimed for a door-length paned window. u00a0 He was pictured peering at the "door", as he realised that it had no handle. The real door was a few feet to the right of it. u00a0 His "door malfunction" was far less embarrassing than that experienced even more publicly by former US president George W Bush three years ago on a visit to China. u00a0 While making a hasty exit from a press conference in Beijing, Bush tugged on the handles of a giant door, only to find it locked. u00a0 He was good-humoured enough to laugh off the blunder, but the pictures serve as a reminder of Bush's capacity for gaffes. u00a0 However, there was little note taken in Washington of Obama's mistake, easily made by a newcomer in the labyrinthine White House.
