China test-fires submarine-launched strategic missile in Pacific, drawing regional concern

China on Monday test-fired a long-range strategic missile from one of its nuclear-powered submarines in the Pacific Ocean, drawing sharp reactions from Japan and Australia.

China said one of its nuclear submarines launched the missile carrying a dummy warhead toward the high seas of the Pacific Ocean at 12.01 pm. The missile landed within designated waters.
