A policeman in Russia turned a doctor when he helped a woman give birth at a checkpoint, a police spokeswoman said on Wednesday.

A pregnant woman from the village of Kornilovka in Russia's Far East was on her way to a hospital when labour pains began prematurely and she was not able to reach the destination on time.
