A new review suggests that consuming less protein, particularly among sedentary adults, may improve long-term health and even extend lifespan. Researchers said while protein is essential for muscle growth in active individuals, many people are likely eating more than they need, which could have negative health effects

Consuming less protein, especially among those who are relatively sedentary, could have greater health benefits and may extend lifespan, according to a new review.
“It’s clear that there are benefits of protein to muscle growth and exercise response of active individuals,” author Dudley Lamming, of the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the US, said.
