Amid one of the most severe famines recorded in recent history, Gazans persistently mark the beginning of Eid al-Adha outside their destroyed mosques and homes. The war-struck Gaza strip  gathered in unison to pray with a glimmer of hope of a ceasefire.

“This is the worst feast that the Palestinian people have experienced because of the unjust war against the Palestinian people,” said Kamel Emran after attending prayers in the southern city of Khan Younis.

For a second consecutive year, the people in Gaza have celebrated, or rather, weathered the horrors of celebrating Eid amidst an environment of loss and inhumanity, devoid of the basic amenities of food, shelter and even places of worship. With war still lingering in the air, they pray to not remain unheard.
