Engineered bacteria could boost ocean carbon capture by 2.6 times: Study

Harvard and Stanford researchers genetically engineered the marine bacterium Alteromonas macleodii to accelerate olivine weathering, boosting atmospheric carbon capture.

Tested in custom bioreactors, the modified bacteria sped up olivine dissolution in seawater 2.6-fold.
