European Union governments cleared on Wednesday legislation to remove import duties on many US goods, a move that should avert US President Donald Trump’s threat of higher tariffs on EU cars and other products.
The EU agreed to remove import duties on US industrial goods and grant preferential access to US farm and seafood produce, while accepting US tariffs of 15 per cent on most EU goods.
