New York: After banning an ad that showed a plus-sized model wearing a bikini, social media giant Facebook has apologised for its decision.

The social media site banned the photo of Tess Holliday &mdash; a plus-size model &mdash; in an ad of a feminist group Cherchez la Femme saying that the photo was against the guidelines that prohibit displaying &ldquo;body parts in an undesirable manner&rdquo;.
&ldquo;Our team processes millions of advertising images each week and in some instances we incorrectly prohibit ads,&rdquo; Facebook said. &ldquo;We apologise for the error and have let the advertiser know we are approving their ad,&rdquo; the company added.
