The Interpol on Tuesday night issued Red Corner Notices (RCN) against Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder chief Hafiz Muhammad Saeed, and mastermind of the Mumbai terror attacks, Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi. The notices were issued against Saeed and Lakhvi after a Mumbai court issued a non-bailable warrant against the two for their role in the November 26, 2008 attacks.

Interpol said it was analysing the evidence. The RCN were issued after the CBI approached the international agency for the same with non-bailable warrants against Saeed and Lakhvi. The warrants were issued by a Mumbai court on June 23 against Saeed and 22 others, including Lakhvi and suspected military official Colonel R Saadat Ullah, for allegedly hatching a conspiracy to carry out the attacks in Mumbai last November. What is an RCN? It is one of the ways in which Interpol informs its 186 member countries that an arrest warrant has been issued for an individual by a judicial authority. It is not an international arrest warrant.
