“My main goal is to resume the truce talks in Cairo as soon as possible so as to prevent more bloodshed,” Abbas said after meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al- Sisi.

He said Egypt was the only country that was able to mediate between Israel and Palestinians, adding that Egypt was going to invite delegates from both sides back to Cairo. A previous round of truce talks collapsed on Tuesday breaking nine days of calm with the conflict resuming between Israel and Hamas.
