Unilever’s Magnum Ice Cream Company will use artificial intelligence (AI) to reformulate products and create new ones. Magnum plans to use Chilean start-up NotCo’s AI to keep tabs on calories, develop new plant-based products and manage commodity costs.
Magnum, which also includes the Ben & Jerry’s and Cornetto ice cream brands, is one of several consumer goods companies working with NotCo to overhaul their products. NotCo CEO Matias Muchnick said major food makers have used the company’s AI to quickly respond to changing consumer trends and surging raw ingredient costs. AI is being used to find replacements for synthetic dyes, reducing sugar and finding the next viral flavour.
