At an auction in New York City, a mystery buyer bought the skeleton of a Nanotyrannus (that looks like a miniature T-rex), called ‘Jodi’ for a whopping $47.3 million (Rs 449.15 crore). That makes Jodi second only to a T-rex fossil, ‘Gus’, in the list of the priciest set of dinosaur bones ever sold.

The price tag may seem surprising, but it still does not beat the age of the skeleton: 67 million years. What’s more, Jodi is no ordinary dino. It was found in 2019 on the land of a rancher from Montana called Jodi Pierson (hence the name), becoming one of only three Nanotyrannus skeletons known to exist. It stands at 9 feet 6 inches tall, and stretches nearly 20 feet, half the size of a T-rex.
