The global hunt for Osama bin Laden might have ended eight years earlier had a Pakistani traffic cop spotted the world's most wanted terrorist in a car he had stopped for speeding.

He's one of the most recognisable faces on the planet, but Osama bin Laden escaped capture a few months after 9/11 after a Pakistani traffic cop, who had pulled him over for speeding, failed to recognise him.
A right-hand man of the the al-Qaeda chief quickly settled the matter and drove off.
