Pope Leo will require no further cancer treatment after surgery to remove part of his right lung, the Vatican said. Tests confirmed that the adenocarcinoma was localised and had not spread, while doctors said there was no clinical reason to prevent his planned November trip to South America

Days after Pope Leo was diagnosed with cancer earlier this month, the Vatican said that he will need no further treatment after tests confirmed the disease was localised.
Leo, 71, had part of one lung removed last week in the first major health event of his 17-month pontificate. As per AP, Pope Leo’s surgery confirmed that he had adenocarcinoma, the most common type of lung cancer.
