Nepal Police on Tuesday recovered seven dead bodies following a flood that wreaked havoc and washed away a cross-border bridge connecting Nepal with China.

The police announced that 18 people were missing, including three police personnel, six Chinese nationals and nine civilians. “A total of 55 individuals, including police personnel, have been rescued from the flood-affected areas,” the police said.

Rainfall in China on Monday night triggered a flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Nepal. The Miteri Bridge in Rasuwa district, 120 km northeast of Kathmandu, was swept away around 3.15 am on Tuesday. The flooding also swept away several houses and five electric vehicles.
