A homeless woman narrowly escaped having her unborn baby ripped from her womb by another woman she met at a shelter. Veronica Deramous (40) held Teka Adams (29) captive for five days and attempted to cut her baby out via her stomach. When police found Adams, her abdomen was cut and her intestines, stomach and placenta exposed.

She was named Miracle Sky. Bleeding Adams was able to escape from the apartment, though her hands were bound with duct tape, when Deramous fell asleep. u00a0 Police found her bleeding in the apartment complex car park after being alerted by a neighbour. Deramous had told relatives and her boyfriend that she was pregnant even though she was not. A box cutter and some razor blades, which police believe were used in the attack, were found in the apartment.
