Singaporean employer jailed for dumping dying Indian employee by roadside

A court has jailed a Singaporean employer for nine months and fined him USD 9,500 for leaving his injured Indian employee by the roadside to die two years ago

Tay Kok Eng, 56, was yesterday jailed for three months for dumping dying Indian worker Chelladurai Lenin by the side of the road, The Straits Times reported today.u00a0

Tay was jailed another six months for employing the same worker, who was an illegal immigrant. 47-year-old Lenin fell and injured his head and leg while changing ceiling lights at a condominium on March 30, 2010.u00a0

The employer, along with another man, had left Lenin on the road pavement despite hospitalisation advise from two doctors at general clinics on March 30, 2010.u00a0
