Sonia Gandhi ranked world's sixth most powerful woman

India's ruling United Progressive Alliance chairperson Sonia Gandhi has been ranked sixth, a notch ahead of US first lady Michelle Obama, in the Forbes magazine list of 100 powerful women.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is ranked the most powerful in the world for the second year in a row in the annual list dominated by politicians, businesswomen and media figures.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is placed second, followed by Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff, making the top three spots unchanged from that of last year.
