UBE2N enzyme may help protect the liver as fatty liver disease progresses, study finds

Around 100 million in the US have nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, American Liver Foundation said

Researchers co-led by Cedars-Sinai Health Sciences University have identified an enzyme — UBE2N enzyme — that may help protect the liver from damage that can occur as the most common form of liver disease becomes more severe. 

The findings, from a preclinical study published in Nature Metabolism, could support new strategies for preventing progression toward liver failure. Around 100 million in the US have nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, American Liver Foundation said.
