San Francisco: In a bizarre incident, an Alaska Airlines flight from New York to Seattle was forced to make an emergency landing in Minneapolis after an unruly passenger tried to open the plane’s rear door mid-flight.

“We did receive reports that this passenger attempted to access a door at the rear of the aircraft. The passenger was unsuccessful as it is physically impossible to open an aircraft door while it is pressurised,” an airlines spokesperson said, adding the police escorted the disruptive passenger off the flight. After questioning, they determined that he presented a danger to himself and was taken to a local hospital. His name has not been released.
