<p>Two people were killed and five others were injured after a <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/world-news/article/us-secret-service-confirms-shooting-near-white-house-armed-man-shot-23628897" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">shooting broke out</a> during the annual Bite of Seattle food festival at the Seattle Centre on Sunday evening, authorities said.</p>
<p>Police launched an investigation into the incident and urged the public to avoid the area near the Space Needle, where the shooting occurred.</p>
<h2>Shooting erupts during food festival</h2>
<p>According to officials, the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/world-news/article/telangana-youth-shot-dead-in-us-family-says-he-was-lured-to-deserted-location-with-fake-pizza-order-23634082" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">shooting took place</a> at around 6 p.m. at the Seattle Centre, which was hosting the popular Bite of Seattle festival over the weekend.</p>
<p>The Seattle Fire Department confirmed that two people died in the shooting, while five others sustained injuries.</p>
<p>Emergency responders and police personnel rushed to the scene and began evacuating festival-goers from the area.</p>
<h2>Hospital treats four victims</h2>
<p>Harborview Medical Center spokesperson Susan Gregg said the hospital admitted four victims, including a toddler, a 23-year-old man and two adult women.</p>
<p>She said one of the patients was in critical condition.</p>
<p>Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or provided further details about the conditions of the remaining injured.</p>
<h2>Witness describes panic after gunfire</h2>
<p>Festival attendee Estan Wakonabo said he and his girlfriend were waiting in line for a photo booth when panic suddenly spread through the crowd.</p>
<p>"People were hiding, were pushing, people were falling on the ground, baby strollers were falling," Wakonabo said.</p>
<p>He said he realised the situation was serious after hearing <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/world-news/article/white-house-shooting-gunman-killed-by-us-secret-service-one-bystander-critically-injured-in-exchange-of-fire-23631945" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">multiple gunshots</a>.</p>
<p>"Once I heard a 'pop, pop, pop', that's when I knew it was a shooter," he said.</p>
<p>After escorting his girlfriend to safety, Wakonabo returned to the area and saw multiple victims lying on the ground.</p>
<h2>Investigation underway</h2>
<p>Seattle police continued to investigate the shooting late Sunday and advised people to stay away from the area while emergency operations were underway.</p>
<p>Authorities have not announced any arrests or disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.</p>
<p>The Bite of Seattle, first held in 1982, is one of the city's largest annual food festivals, attracting around 350,000 visitors over three days, according to its organisers. The incident disrupted the final day of the popular community event.</p>
