<p>Rodriguez, who also heads the command centre responsible for setting up temporary camps, said that 17,854 people remain homeless following the disaster. He shared the latest figures in a post on Telegram.</p>
<p>According to officials, rescue teams have saved 6,462 people so far, while 86,794 families have received assistance. An earlier official report stated that 17,345 people had been displaced due to the earthquakes.</p>
<h2>Nearly 1,000 aftershocks recorded</h2>
<p>The country continues to deal with the impact of the magnitude 7.2 and 7.5 earthquakes that struck on June 24. According to the latest update, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/world-news/article/venezuela-thanks-india-for-aid-after-devastating-earthquake-23638264" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">Venezuela</a> has recorded 995 aftershocks till Sunday.</p>
<p>Authorities have established 80 temporary camps to provide shelter and assistance to displaced residents and those affected by the disaster.</p>
<p>Officials said 29,567 rescue personnel remain deployed in search and relief operations, including 3,281 international rescuers who are assisting local teams.</p>
<h2>Seven days of national mourning announced</h2>
<p>Venezuela's acting president Delcy Rodriguez earlier declared seven days of national mourning in memory of those who lost their lives in the earthquakes.</p>
<p>"In honour of the memory of the victims, I have decided to decree National Mourning for seven days, starting at 6:00 p.m. today," Rodriguez wrote in a statement posted on social media.</p>
<p>She said that "in these moments of profound sadness, we embrace those who suffer from this tragedy and reaffirm our commitment to accompany and protect them."</p>
<p>"Venezuela's soul is torn by the human losses caused by the devastating earthquakes," Rodriguez added.</p>
<p>Authorities said tens of thousands of people are still missing as search and <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/world-news/article/venezuela-earthquake-rescuers-race-to-save-venezuelan-man-trapped-for-a-week-under-rubble-23637874" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">rescue operations continue</a> across the affected regions.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Indian medical teams continue to provide humanitarian assistance to people affected by the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela under Operation Amistad.</p>
<p>Survivors and their families have expressed gratitude for the medical care being provided at the Indian Army's Field Hospital.</p>
<p>Videos shared by the Ministry of External Affairs on X showed residents thanking Indian medical teams for their support and assistance during the crisis.</p>
<p>A woman whose son was undergoing treatment at the Army Field Hospital expressed gratitude towards India and the medical professionals involved in the relief efforts.</p>
<h2>Relief efforts continue in affected areas</h2>
<p><a href="https://www.mid-day.com/news/world-news/article/venezuela-earthquake-relief-indian-army-medical-team-earns-praise-from-survivors-23637761" target="_blank" rel="none noopener">India launched Operation Amistad to support Venezuela</a> following the twin earthquakes that caused widespread destruction across the country.</p>
<p>Rescue workers, medical teams and authorities continue their efforts to assist affected families, provide emergency care and search for those still missing after the disaster.</p>
