An Indian Air Force (IAF) plane carrying twelve Cheetahs from South Africa landed at the Gwalior air base around 10 am on Saturday. To mark India's 74th Republic Day on Thursday, the Republic Day parade began from Kartavya Path in New Delhi after 21-gun salute. President Droupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief guest, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi were among the dignitaries present at the venue. During the grand parade, the major attraction was the Indian forces marching contingents and their military equipment. A cloudburst near the Amarnath cave shrine have led to loss of atleast 16 lives and around 15,000 pilgrims were left stranded. The Indian Army and the Indian Air Force (IAF) have began an operation at the affected area to rescue the pilgrims. The IAF and the Indian army have been conducting evacuation and rescue operations, those being rescued are are shifted to the Nilgrar helipad from the Amarnath cave, a Defence statement said.

The flypast witnessing 75 aircraft and helicopters of the Indian Air Force and displaying a number of formations left people stunned at Rajpath during the Republic Day parade. Vintage, as well as current modern aircraft and helicopters like Rafale, Sukhoi, Jaguar, Mi-17, Sarang, Apache and Dakota, displayed different formations, including Rahat, Meghna, Eklavya, Trishul, Tiranga, Vijay and Amrit. The toll from disastrous flooding caused by heavy rains and landslides in hilly areas of two central Kerala districts rose to 21 as rescue workers recovered more bodies from the rubbles on Sunday.
