US President Donald Trump has backed a proposal to prohibit Sharia law in America, saying the United States should have one legal system.  The president also claimed Sharia law is being followed in some “pockets” of the US, but did not identify any locations or provide evidence for the claim.  Trump has not specified how such a ban would be implemented or whether he supports a particular bill.   

Pakistan’s Sarhad University’s Rawat campus near Islamabad has sparked protests after an officer was allegedly seen brandishing a pistol and firing shots into the air. The incident reportedly began during a student protest over fees and class schedules. Students allege that a security officer first assaulted a student with a stick before the confrontation escalated. A student also alleged that a female student was manhandled, slapped and had her scarf pulled during the incident.
