In a tragic incident, a boat carrying school children capsized in the Jhelum river in the Ganderbal district of Jammu and Kashmir on April 16. The Srinagar Administration has launched a rescue operation in the area. A State Disaster Response Force team was also deployed. At least six persons including four children have died. Meanwhile, 4 bodies have been recovered, while others are missing. The boat which has capsized was ferrying children from Gandbal to Batwara in Srinagar. A horrific bus accident took place in Haryana’s Mahendragarh on April 11 sending shockwaves across India. At least 5 students were killed and 15 were rendered injured after a private school bus overturned in the Kanina town. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital following the horrific road tragedy. As per police, the driver was driving the bus under the influence of alcohol. One of the parents and other locals also claimed that the driver was drunk while driving. One of the relatives of deceased child said the school administration was made aware of the drinking habit of the driver. On the other hand, another relative of deceased child raised questions on Govt and School administration. Expressing grief, PM Modi said that “state govt is engaged in providing all possible help to victims and their families”. Haryana CM Nayab Saini expressed grief over the incident and assured stringent action on the guilty. However, the question of the school being operational on a festival day (Eid) sparked a political row. Former Deputy CM of Haryana Dushyant Chautala raised questions and targeted Haryana Govt and administration.

Baltimore's Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed and vehicles plunged into the river on Mar 26 after a ship collided with one of the pillars. Daylight drone visuals showed the extent of damage the bridge suffered sending cars and people into the river. Following the incident, US Secretary of Transportation emphasised that the path to normalcy after the bridge collapse would not be easy. Meanwhile, locals recalled the moment of collapse and one of them said the noise was felt in the house. The Maryland state police on March 27 informed that six people who were missing after the bridge collapsed incident have been presumed dead. The ship was identified as a Singapore-flagged container ship, the Dali which was bound for Sri Lanka.

A massive train accident took place near Ajmer today. Passengers sustained minor injuries after Sabarmati Express collided with a goods train on March 18. The incident occurred at midnight near Madar station in Ajmer district. However, no casualties have been reported so far in the incident. Several passengers sustained minor injuries and least four coaches and the engine of Sabarmati Express train got derailed. The reason behind the train derailment is yet to be ascertained. Just weeks before the 2024 Lok Sabha Polls, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sustained a significant injury on March 14, leading to her hospitalization. Rushed to SSKM Hospital by TMC GS Abhishek Banerjee, she bore a serious forehead wound. The Delhi Development Authority has demolished the home of a rat hole miner Wakeel Hassan. He played an important role in rescuing 41 workers trapped in Uttarkashi's Silkyara tunnel last year in November. A video of the demolition has gone viral on social media. A tragic train accident took place in Jharkhand's Jamtara on 28th February evening as a passenger train ran over 2 passengers at the Kalajharia railway station killing both of them. The Eastern Railway said the victims were walking on the track when they were run over by the Jhajha-Asansol Memu passenger train. Initial reports suggested the persons killed were passengers of Anga Express, running parallel to Memu passenger train, which stopped due to a fire call. The reports claimed that passengers deboarded the train and were run over the Memu train.According to the railway. Officials, the incident occurred at 7 pm and only two persons were killed.
