Mumbai head coach Amol Muzumdar is confident that his team will bounce back in time for the Ranji Trophy season, which begins next month. Mumbai fared poorly in the recent Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. Former Mumbai captain Muzumdar, was guest of honour on Friday evening when a documentary on Dadar Parsee Zoroastrian Cricket Club (DPZCC), Matunga was launched at a function in Ruia College.
Sunil Gavaskar’s words in the documentary struck a chord with Muzumdar, who remarked: “A line I learnt today [Friday], which Gavaskar sir said in the documentary is one that I won’t forget. He said, ‘To work hard is in our hands irrespective of whether you get success or failure. Those who toil hard on the cricket field with dedication will get success definitely.’ I will remember that. Yes, the start [to the season] hasn’t been good, but the end will be good.” The defending champions managed to win only one game in the 50-over Vijay Hazare Trophy this season. In November, they were knocked out of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in the league stage.
