Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has urged BCCI and the International Cricket Council (ICC) to give priority to the longest format of the game – Test cricket.
“I would make a strong recommendation that Test cricket should be the priority, because that is where you get the best cricket and the cricketers. In Test cricket, you get to see the best competition as it lasts for five days and every day, the challenge becomes different,” Harbhajan, who has claimed 417 wickets in 103 Tests, said at the Legends Club event, which was organised to celebrate batting icon Sachin Tendulkar’s 53rd birthday at the Cricket Club of India on Friday.
“If I were part of any committee in the ICC or the BCCI, I would tell them that to save Test cricket, we must ensure we play on better pitches, where the game lasts for five days and does not end inside three days,” Harbhajan added.
