Former England skipper Michael Vaughan feels that after the inclusion of spinner Liam Dawson, it has provided balance to the hosts' team in the ongoing five-match Test series against Team India.
Lawson came in as a replacement for injured Shoaib Bashir, who was ruled out for the remainder of the Test series, owing to an injury.
Speaking about his inclusion on the 'Test Match Special' podcast, Vaughan said Lawson is a 'all-round package'.
"It is the all-round package and for this England side, and going forward to Australia, they are stronger with this style of cricketer in it," said Vaughan.
"He is the kind of cricketer as a captain you say 'give me control, a few runs and you field nicely'," he added.
On Day 1, Liam Dawson claimed one wicket by conceding 45 runs in 15 overs. He accounted for the wicket of Yashavi Jaiswal, who departed after scoring 58 runs.
Bashir has been England's first-choice spinner since last year. On the other hand, Dawson has 18 first-class centuries under his name.
Further speaking, Vaughan said that he would like to see a strong batting line-up in England's team ahead of the Ashes series.
"On the pitches we are seeing in the UK and potentially Australia, I want to see a batting line-up that is absolutely packed," said the veteran of 82 Test matches.
The former cricketer also believes that Dawson would likely get a five-wicket haul if the pitch starts cracking as the game proceeds.
"The over-spin of Bashir is very dangerous but what you require in this England team on the pitches they are playing is control. I don't think he (Dawson) is going to get six or seven-fors but he will get two or three. If the pitch breaks up he may get four or five-for," he concluded.
In the fourth Test match, Team India ended day one at 264/4, with Shardul Thakur (19*) and Ravindra Jadeja (19*). Rishabh Pant retired hurt on 37 runs due to a foot injury and that has come as a massive blow to India. Half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan (61 in 151 balls, with seven fours) and Yashasvi Jaiswal (58 in 107 balls, with 10 fours and a six) served as the biggest contributions of the day.
England skipper Ben Stokes (2/47) stood as the pick of the bowlers, removing skipper Shubman Gill and Sudharsan.
