The "Black Caps" are trailing by 0-3 in the series, with two matches yet to be played. Ahead of the remainder of the five-match T20I series, the hosts have suffered a major blow as star pacer Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out.
He sustained a calf injury during the second T20I match, following which he will be out of action for the fourth and fifth <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ind-vs-nz-3rd-t20i-block-out-expectations-just-be-you-morne-morkel-advice-to-bhuvneshwar-kumar-23657134" rel="nofollow">T20I</a> matches against the "Men in Blue".
The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) released a statement saying that Ferguson will require another week to recover.
"Ferguson experienced pain in his right-calf during the second T20 at Hagley Oval and subsequent scans confirmed a low-grade tear, and he is expected to require another week or so of recovery before returning to play," read the statement.

According to the planned workload management of <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/new-zealand-all-rounder-kyle-jamieson-praises-virat-kohlis-skill-saying-great-batters-cant-be-contained-23611756" rel="nofollow">Kyle Jamieson</a>, he will remain in Wellington and will be available for Canterbury's second round of the Ford Trophy.
