Team India is set to clash with <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ind-vs-nz-4th-t20i-lockie-ferguson-out-of-action-for-the-remainder-of-series-23657532" rel="nofollow">New Zealand</a> in the fourth T20I match. The clash is scheduled to be played on October 30 at the Eden Park in Auckland.
Ahead of the match, Team India's star batsman Tilak Varma has expressed confidence in his bowling. He said that currently Naman Dhir has been doing a "solid job" for the team, and he would not like to take the ball away from him.
"Right now, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ipl-2027-ravichandran-ashwin-picks-naman-dhir-as-mi-captaincy-option-in-future-23657050" rel="nofollow">Naman Dhir</a> is in the squad and bowling well, so there hasn't been an immediate need for me to roll my arm over. But behind the scenes, I practice regularly and feel confident in my bowling. When an opportunity comes, I bowl. Right now, Naman is doing a solid job in T20s, and when someone is bowling well, you do not take the ball away from them," he said.
The Hyderabad-born cricketer also said that if provided an opportunity in future, he would certainly step up and do the job.
"But whenever an opening arises, I will certainly step in and do the job," said Varma.
On the other hand, New Zealand has suffered a major blow as star pacer Lockie Ferguson has been ruled out of the remainder of the <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/daryl-mitchell-hails-abhishek-sharmas-world-class-innings-as-india-seal-t20i-series-23657270" rel="nofollow">T20I</a> series against the "Men in Blue".
He sustained a calf injury during the second T20I match, following which he will be out of action for the fourth and fifth T20I matches against Team India.
The New Zealand Cricket (NZC) released a statement saying that Ferguson will require another week to recover.
The visitors have already sealed the series by 3-0, and will look for a whitewash in the shortest format's series before engaging in the five-match <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/india-retains-the-top-odi-ranking-spot-ahead-of-afghanistan-series-23634707" rel="nofollow">ODI</a> series against the "Black Caps".
