Star Indian opener KL Rahul built on from the strong start that he had managed late on Day 1 against the West Indies as he completed his 11th Test hundred on Day 2 of the ongoing Test in Ahmedabad on Friday, October 3. Rahul remains unbeaten on 100 off 192 balls at Lunch on Day 2 and has scored as many as 12 boundaries in his innings so far.

India began Day 2 with KL Rahul and skipper Shubman Gill both remaining unbeaten overnight. Their objective was clear - get past West Indies' first innings score of 162 without much damage and then look to build on the lead. Gill continued his fine form in Tests this year with yet another half-century. However, soon after, he was dismissed by Roston Chase as he was caught by Justin Greaves on 50 runs off 100 balls.

Both KL Rahul and Shubman Gill were pretty proactive in their strokeplay and didn't miss out from putting the bad balls away. West Indies spinners tried to apply pressure, but that couldn't quite work out as inconsistencies in line and length were punished by the Indian batters. Dhruv Jurel has since joined Rahul at the crease after Gill's wicket and has scored 14 runs off 38 balls with one boundary.

It has been a sorry-looking bowling card for West Indies so far as just Jayden Seales and skipper Roston Chase have been able to register a non-zero wicket column. Seales has bowled 12 overs and conceded 35 runs with a wicket, while Chase has picked up a couple of wickets in 12 overs, conceding 37 runs. Despite trying six bowling options, the likes of Johann Layne, Justin Greaves, Jomel Warrican and Khary Pierre are all wicketleess.

India will look to drive home their advantage by piling on even more misery on the West Indies bowlers in the remaining two sessions of the day.

India XI: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill (c), Dhruv Jurel (wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj

West Indies XI: Tagenarine Chanderpaul, John Campbell, Alick Athanaze, Brandon King, Shai Hope (wk), Roston Chase (c), Justin Greaves, Jomel Warrican, Khary Pierre, Johann Layne, Jayden Seales
