Team India's Test skipper Shubman Gill claimed that the hosts will be looking to play hard grinding cricket in the two-match Test series against the West Indies with the first Test to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad from Thursday, October 2. Gill is aware of the fact that the Test matches in India of late haven't quite been lasting the whole five days.

However, the Indian captain shed light on how every Test match of the recent Test series between India and England went the distance and claimed that his team had the temperament and strength needed to meet the demands of a long Test match. India dished out turning tracks against New Zealand in their home season last year, but that tactic failed miserably as the Kiwis ended up winning the series with an astonishing margin of 3-0.

Shubman Gill has claimed that the picthes in the Test series against West Indies will be sporting ones with something in it for both the batters as well as the bowlers.

Here's what the Indian captain had to say to the reporters as quoted as saying by AFP ahead of the game:

"We are looking to play some hard grinding cricket. We would be looking to play on wickets that offer both to the batsmen and to the bowlers. For any team that comes to India, they know that the challenge is going to be spin and reverse swing."

West Indies skipper Roston Chase, meanwhile, expects India to dish out a turning track against the West Indies. The visitors have already had some injury concerns in their camp with the likes of Shamar Joseph and Alzarri Joseph having been ruled out due to injuries. However, Chase is banking on the experience he has had having played in Indian conditions and is hoping that the Windies are able to put up a spirited fight against the hosts.

Here's what he had to tell reporters as quoted as saying by AFP ahead of the game:

"Obviously we are not in a good position right now as far as our Test status, and we are kind of low on the table. But we have to put that behind us, worry about what's ahead of us, and play one day at a time. Just try to learn the conditions as fast as possible."
