Pune: There seems to be no end to the Rising Pune Supergiants&rsquo; problems in their first ever IPL season, with Australian skipper Steve Smith joining the injury list.

Although Smith looked very fluent with his stroke-play against the Mumbai Indians on Sunday, Cricket Australia is not willing to take any chances with their top batsman, who has &ldquo;been suffering with pain in his wrist for the past one week.&rdquo;
Supergiants have now lost all their first choice foreign players. And unless Usman Khawaja joins them in time for the game against Delhi Daredevils on May 5, they might struggle to have four genuine batsmen in their playing XI.
Smith scored his first ever T20 century against the Gujarat Lions on Friday, April 29. And going by Cricket Australia&rsquo;s official version, even then he was suffering with pain in the wrists. &ldquo;Steve has been struggling with pain in his right wrist for the last week during his stint in the IPL,&rdquo; Australia&rsquo;s sports science and sports medicine manager Alex Kountouris was quoted as saying by the website. &ldquo;We have been working with his IPL franchise Pune to monitor this, and unfortunately it has not resolved. As such, he will return home from India for further assessment and treatment ahead of the tour of the West Indies.
&ldquo;From the information we have so far, this doesn&rsquo;t appear to be a serious injury but we are keen to give him the time to recover and rehabilitate before heading to the West Indies at the end of May.&rdquo;
Even in the case of Du Plessis, the official version from Supergiants, after the opener hurt his finger, was that &ldquo;he is returning home and would be taking no further part in the IPL 2016 as per Cricket South Africa policy.&rdquo;
