Kanga League: Parkophene are champions

U-19 chief selector Rajesh Pawar-led side claim 'A' div Kanga honours; Payyade SC come second

Parkophene CC clinched the 'A' division title of the Dr HD Kanga Cricket League after drawing their last league match against Fort Vijay CC at Youth's Own Union CC, Cross Maidan yesterday. Fort Vijay posted 169 for eight before declaring their innings closed with Gandhar Bhatawdekar (49) and Pankaj Jaiswal (33) being the principal scorers. Parkophene pacer Rehmani Sufiyan and spinner Rajesh Pawar, the under-19 Mumbai chief selector, claimed three and two wickets respectively. Parkophene ended the day with 31 for one to finish the tournament with 10 points. Payyade SC emerged runners-up with nine points after their win over DY Patil Sports Association in Navi Mumbai. Thanks to Harmeet Singh (3-43), pacers Royston Dias (3-26) and Rohan Raje (2-21), Payyade SC bundled out DY Patil for 131. Iqbal Abdullah slammed 50 in a losing cause. In reply, Payyade SC scored 145 losing four wickets to win on the first innings.
