On the occasion of India's Independence Day, Team India's wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant shared a video on his official social media handle. The caption of the video read, "Happy Independence Day, India. Some moments stay with you forever and winning for India is at the top of the list. Proud to be Indian. #RP17".

The video was shot by Pant during Team India's Champions Trophy 2025 triumph. At the end of the video, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was seen asking Pant, "Kya retirement lelu?" (Should I announce my retirement?). Further, Rohit jokingly said, "Bhai, har baar jeetenge toh mein thodi retirement leta rahunga" (Brother, I can't keep retiring every time we win).

The Champions Trophy 2025 final against New Zealand was held at Dubai International Stadium. The 'Black Caps' won the toss and elected to bat first and posted a total of 251 runs for the loss of seven wickets, with Daryl Mitchell being the top scorer for the side. Facing 101 balls, he had scored 63 runs, with the help of three boundaries. Michael Bracewell was another top scorer for New Zealand. He played an unbeaten knock of 53 runs, which came in 40 balls, including three boundaries and two maximums.

Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Phillips, too, registered scores of 37 and 34 runs, respectively.

Varun Chakaravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav had claimed two wickets each for India. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja also registered one scalp each to their names.

During the run chase, skipper Rohit smashed 76 runs in just 31 balls, including seven boundaries and three maximums. Shreyas Iyer also scored 48 runs off 62 balls, with the help of two boundaries and the same number of maximums.

KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja stayed unbeaten on the scores of 34 and nine runs, respectively. With this, the "Men in Blue" came victorious by four wickets in the final of the Champions Trophy 2025 final.
