Six years ago, on April 2, MS Dhoni guided the Indian team to beat Kumar Sangakkara's Sri Lanka to clinch the 2011 ICC World Cup at the Wankhede Stadium. Mahela Jayawardene, now head coach of Mumbai Indians, fought hard with an unbeaten 103.
"I didn't even remember that (the anniversary) till I opened my Twitter account this morning. To be part of a World Cup final is always a brilliant feeling, to walk out there at the Wankhede with... I don't know how many people inside, and around 10,000-15,000 people outside screaming (was great). They were good memories personally for me, but India was the better team on that day and they beat us.

"I enjoyed it, but it it's six years ago, so it is in the past. There are lot of things in life which hurt, we have lost around four (World Cup and World T20) finals, not just one so I would like to keep a balance of everything. We learn from every mishap that happens and just move on in life. I think that's the beauty of life. It hurt at that moment, but not after that," said Jayawardene at MI press conference yesterday.
MI skipper Rohit Sharma recalled the World Cup final too. "It was a proud moment for our country. Though I was not part of it, I enjoyed the 100 overs throughout, especially watching him (Jayawardene) bat and score a hundred. The way India chased it (in Mumbai) was amazing and that is what I remember. I was watching from home and seeing what happened was fantastic," said Rohit.
