The BCCI's junior selection committee led by former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad yesterday decided to leave teenage bating sensation Prithvi Shaw out of the U-19 Asia Cup squad scheduled to be held in Malaysia next month for an extended run in the ongoing Ranji Trophy. Shaw had led the India U-19 one-day side during the series win on the England tour in August. The attacking batsman, 17, who scored a century on debut in the Ranji Trophy semi-final against Tamil Nadu early this year, will play against the same opponents in his opening Ranji Trophy game this season on October 24 at the MCA-BKC ground in Mumbai. Former Mumbai chief selector Milind Rege, whose committee picked Prithvi in Mumbai's senior team last year, welcomed the latest move.
