Thanks to an all-round performance and a timely declaration, Parsee Gymkhana beat New Hind Sporting Club by virtue of a first-innings lead to earn three vital points in their Dr HD <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/mumbai/mumbai-news/photo/in-photos-mumbai-kanga-league-returns-as-cricketing-action-across-iconic-maidans-112699/1" rel="nofollow">Kanga Cricket League</a> Division &lsquo;A&rsquo; game at Parsee Gymkhana on Sunday.
After four games, Parsee Gymkhana lead the premier division with 11 points, while Islam Gymkhana are second with 10.
Put into bat after the game started at 1pm, <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/good-things-happen-to-good-people-and-suryas-a-great-guy-parsee-gymkhana-club-hails-indian-skipper-23620242" rel="nofollow">Parsee Gymkhana </a>declared at 144-4 in 21.2 overs, with Sagar Chabria (51 not out) and experienced wicketkeeper-batter Aditya Tare (42) making crucial contributions.

Riding on left-arm spinner Sagar Udeshi (4-49), off-spinner Mairaj Khan (3-40) and left-arm spinner Harikesh Yadav (2-2), Parsee Gymkhana bowled out New Hind Sporting Club for 113 in 27.2 overs, with just 11 minutes remaining in the game.
Former Mumbai Ranji Trophy-winning <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ipl-2026-aditya-tare-heaps-praise-on-rajasthan-royals-swashbuckling-batsman-vaibhav-sooryavanshi-23629659" rel="nofollow">skipper Tare</a> was excellent behind the stumps too, claiming four victims, including sharp stumpings of openers Aditya Parab (27) and Amit Jaiswal (24).
&ldquo;This was a close game but we executed our plans perfectly. We batted well and our batters allowed us to declare at the right time. A score of 144 was chaseable, but we challenged ourselves and the bowlers did their job perfectly,&rdquo; Parsee Gym coach Vinayak Mane told mid-day.
In another Division &lsquo;A&rsquo; match at Islam Gymkhana, the hosts declared their first innings at 172-6 in 24 overs against Shivaji Park Gymkhana (SPG), with opener Varun Lavande and one-drop Naman Jhawar scoring 56 and 47 respectively.
For SPG, medium-pacer Mohammed Amir (4-32) bowled well and claimed his maiden hat-trick. However, despite a good start from openers Ruturaj Sane (44) and Raj Waghela (35), SPG had to settle for a draw, finishing on 165-7 at stumps.
It was mixed feelings for Amir, 22. &ldquo;Getting my first hat-trick, and that too in Division &lsquo;A&rsquo;, is a big achievement. But at the same time, I&rsquo;m disappointed that we had to settle for just one point,&rdquo; Amir told mid-day later.
