<a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ranji-trophy-musheer-khan-shines-with-the-ball-as-mumbai-dominate-haryana-23657280" rel="nofollow">Musheer Khan</a> achieved a rare milestone by combining a first-innings century with a six-wicket haul to give Mumbai a massive 160-run lead against Haryana on Day 3 of their Elite Group D Ranji Trophy match on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old returned figures of 6 for 85, claiming the first five wickets to fall in Haryana's innings as the visitors were bowled out for 270 at the BKC Ground.&nbsp;
Musheer's bowling performance allowed Mumbai to enforce the follow-on in pursuit of a third straight victory with a bonus point. By stumps, Haryana reached 73 for two in their second innings, still trailing by 87 runs on a tricky surface.
Reflecting on the conditions, Musheer said the changing nature of the track helped him with the ball.
"The wicket has slowed down tremendously. Our spinners are trying to hit those spots where the ball is bouncing more; turn is available," he told reporters after the day's play.
Haryana faced further difficulty when opener Himanshu Rana retired hurt after taking a blow to his helmet from Sylvester D'Souza, following <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/tanush-must-use-test-snub-as-motivation-to-excel-23631460" rel="nofollow">Tanush Kotian</a>'s dismissal of skipper Ankit Kumar. D'Souza later pulled off a fine catch at backward square leg to dismiss Dheeru Singh off Musheer's bowling.
Nishant Sindhu fought a lonely battle for the visitors, scoring an unbeaten 105 off 251 balls. Having gained experience in the IPL with <a href="https://www.mid-day.com/sports/cricket/article/ipl-2027-csk-thanks-michael-hussey-eric-simons-as-five-time-champions-overhaul-coaching-staff-23657183" rel="nofollow">Chennai Super Kings</a> and Gujarat Titans, Sindhu credited domestic conditions in Lahli for preparing him.
"For a long time it has been spinning more as compared to seam over there. So having played there, it felt easier to play here," he said.
Looking ahead to the final day, Sindhu added: "The demand was to bat long; the wicket was not completely flat. The wicket will deteriorate further, so I will have to bat with more focus tomorrow." On his IPL exposure, he remarked: "When you are young, you tend to think that this is my game and I will play it that way. But speaking with them (MS Dhoni and others), I have learnt to play for the team according to the situation."
<h2>Brief scores:</h2>
Mumbai 430 lead Haryana 270 in 107.5 overs (Nishant Sindhu 105 not out; Musheer Khan 6/85) &amp; 73/2 (f/o) in 21 overs (Nishant Sindhu 22 not out; Musheer Khan 1/6) by 87 runs.
