After recent reports of hockey legends BP Govinda and Mohammad Shahid in hospital at Bangalore and Gurgaon respectively, another hockey player &mdash; Joe Antic &mdash; was hospitalised for a lung infection on July 4 and is in the ICU of Pikale Hospital in Mahim.

The 90-year-old represented the country at the 1960 Rome Olympic where India won silver after losing to arch-rivals Pakistan 1-0 in the final. He was also a part of the 1962 Asian Games in Jakarta where India finished runners-up. Joe was a Jr Shop Superintendent at the Parel workshop before he retired from Western Railway in 1986.
Talking about his medical condition, Antic&rsquo;s son William, who works as a Railway Ticket Collector (TC), said, &ldquo;Dad had issues with his knee for the last few years, but he was walking with the support of a stick. On July 4 he complained about issues with breathing. That&rsquo;s when we got him here and he was admitted to the ICU. He was put on oxygen but it is off now. We pray that he recovers soon,&rdquo; William said.
