March 15: China GP
Kimi Antonelli announced himself on the big stage very early, in just the second race of the calendar. Not only did he become the youngest driver ever to take pole position but Antonelli, only 19 then, went on to win his first grand prix, becoming the second youngest F1 winner behind Max Verstappen. Mercedes teammate George Russell came second in Shanghai.
May 24: Canada GP
The Italian continued his form and went to Montreal on the back of three successive wins (China, Japan and Miami). Russell had failed to make the podium since China. However, he won the sprint and took pole position as well. Antonelli made it four wins on the bounce. Russell was forced to retire due to a battery/power unit failure.
