Aparna Popat wins two doubles titles at GD Birla Memorial Masters

Nine-time former national champion Aparna Popat helped herself to two doubles titles in the 24th GD Birla Memorial Masters badminton tournament at Bombay Gym yesterday.

In the women's doubles 75+ age group (The total age of the partners should add up to 75-plus), top seeds Popat and Naheed Divecha registered a comfortable 21-8, 21-16 win over second seed pair of Deanne Rodrigues and Supriya Devgun to win the title.

The 38-year-old then teamed up with Ayaz Bilawala in the mixed doubles 80+ category. Bilawala/Popat duo beat Shailesh Daga and Naheed Divecha 21-10, 21-12.
