Asian Rowing: Swaran Singh clinches gold

Olympian Swaran Singh Virk's gold medal capped a successful Asian Senior Rowing Championship for the Indian rowing team.

India have already won two silver and two many bronze medals in the Championships held at Luan, China.u00a0In yesterday’s final, Virk overcame tough competition from Iranian and Chinese rowers to clinch the gold medal with a time of 7:31.88 minutes.

Elsewhere, in the Men’s Eights event, the Indian team comprising of Anil Kumar, Kapil Sharma, Maninder Singh, Robin P Ulahannan, Davinder Singh, Bajrang Lal Thakar, Ranjit Singh and Mohammed Azad won the silver medal courtesy their timing of 6:12.47 minutes.

India also won the bronze medal in the Lightweight Men’s Double Sculls category where Sonu Narian and Shokindar Tomar finished with a timing of 6:57.13 minutes.u00a0
