Melbourne: Indian tennis ace Rohan Bopanna and his Romanian partner Florin Mergea on Thursday claimed a straight-set win over the Australian pair of Omar Jasika and Nick Kyrgios to advance to the second round of the Australian Open.

The Indo-Romanian pair brushed aside the Australian pair 7-5, 6-3 in their thrilling opening round contest of the men's double event.
Earlier in January, Bopanna and Mergea lost their hopes of clinching the Sydney International title following their 3-6, 6-7(6) defeat at the hands Brazilian-Briton pair of Bruno Soares and Jamie Murray in the summit clash.
