World number four Murray saw his latest hopes of becoming Britain’s first Grand Slam men’s singles champion since Fred Perry in 1936 crushed by David Ferrer 6-4, 6-7 (3/7), 6-3,6-2 in the French Open quarter-finals on Wednesday.
